Tigers turn their attention to European rugby on Saturday when Italian Super 10 side Treviso visit Welford Road (3pm kick-off).
Tigers go into the fixtures at the top of Heineken Cup Pool 3, and Mauger says they face two “massive” games as they bid to reach the competition’s knock-out stages.
“It’s massive for our season,” said Mauger, who captained the side in the Guinness Premiership fixture at Northampton on Saturday.
“We would have loved to have gone a bit higher in the Premiership table with a win against Northampton but now we are focused on the Heineken Cup for the next two weeks.
“We can still go to through to the next stage if we have a good win this weekend and then try to beat Ospreys down there.
“We have two difficult games coming up that can define our season in the next two weeks.”
Tigers go into the Heineken Cup games on the back of a 17-13 defeat against local rivals Northampton Saints on Saturday.
Mauger said Tigers were frustrated by the result, but he admitted that they did not deserve to win the game.
“We didn’t really deserve to win,” he said. “It’s frustrating more than anything.
“We had some good energy going into the game but everyone made errors. We couldn’t get any continuity, whereas they had some good continuity and momentum, and they turned it into points better than us.”
