Miles Benjamin, Vereniki Goneva and Tom Youngs are on the three-man shortlist and supporters can place their vote now on the Goldsmiths Facebook page by clicking here.
Benjamin scored his first tries for Tigers in the Heineken Cup win over Montpellier at Welford Road after making a successful comeback from a lengthy injury lay-off. And he was a threat in the return fixture, beating four defenders and making 52 metres in 12 carries and coming agonisingly close to a try only to be denied by the TMO.
It’s a second Goldsmiths Player of the Month nomination for Goneva after he won the award in September. The Fiji international made an instant impact on his return from injury with a try in the Heineken Cup victory over Montpellier at Welford Road. And he made a vital contribution at Stade Yves du Manoir in the return fixture, scoring a dramatic last-minute try that helped Tigers to a 15-14 win and their first victory on French soil in seven years.
Youngs was perpetual motion in Tigers’ win in Montpellier. In attack, he scored a crucial second-half try as well as making 13 carries. In defence he completed 11 tackles and won two turnovers. And in the set-piece he hit 14 lineouts as well as contributing to a sterling effort at scrum time. The Tigers hooker also made another big contribution in the home game against Montpellier completing 10 tackles and making 30 metres in eight carries.
The Tigers Player of the Month award is supported by Goldsmiths, the largest prestige and luxury jewellers in the UK, who are also official East Stand sponsors and official timekeepers.
