Walk or run for Foundation and healthy schools

Four of Leicester’s elite sporting clubs – Leicester Tigers, City, Riders and Leicestershire County Cricket Club – are coming together to raise £80,000 to fund a Healthy Schools Intervention Programme.

The £80,000 target will enable 18,000 children around the county to access vital learning about how to lead an active and healthy lifestyle, reduce the risk of obesity and subsequent conditions such as Type 2 Diabetes.

The Leicester Tigers Foundation is inviting members of the public to take part in a walk across the heart of the city on Friday, October 14 to help reach that target.

The seven-mile Everards Leicester Stadium Walk starts from Morningside Arena at 11:30am, stopping at Mattioli Woods Welford Road, the King Power Stadium and Uptonsteel County Ground along the way, ending at the Beer Hall at Everards Meadows.

The four club charities work together on the United Leicester programme with the objective of promoting positive health and wellbeing across the city.

Each visit to a United Leicester stadium will entail a lap around the outside and a water break – sponsored by Crowndale.

Everards have part-funded the programme with a generous £10,000 donation through the Everards Foundation.

To donate, see unitedleicesterstadiumwalk on Just Giving. Or to register to join the walk, email [email protected]

The Foundation is also a charity partner for the Leicester Half-marathon and 10K on Sunday, October 30, leaving Victoria Park at 9.15am, with proceeds raised supporting our new healthy schools initiative.

If you can want to run for the Tigers Foundation contact [email protected] and you will be given a code to register to run if you raise more than £250, your entry fee will be covered along with receiving a Tigers Foundation goodie bag.
