McCarthy said: “Playing at Welford Road will be a new test for some of our players and it is all part of a young players’ development.
“It would be great to see a good crowd to support the team on the day because it is good experience for them.”
Tigers include six players with first-team experience in the Academy side. Alex Lewington, Stephen Macauley, Joe Cobden, Rory Lynn, Fraser Balmain and Dave Markham have all experienced LV= Cup rugby with the senior squad this season and are included in the starting line-up for the Academy’s first Welford Road appearance of the season.
Admission to Sunday’s match is free to all supporters. Kick-off is at 2.30pm and the ABC Bar in the Holland & Barrett Stand will be open.
