It’s a massive challenge… it's tough... but it’s all in a very good cause and it requires your help. Leicester Tigers mascot Welford is running the London Marathon next month.
Welford will be running the streets of the capital with the goal of not only finishing the 26-mile distance but also raising a significant sum for the Leicester Tigers Foundation to help fund its work in special educational needs, outreach and community support within the disabled community.
The Foundation’s SEND staff will also work in support of the Leicester Tigers Wheelchair Rugby team who have rightfully been in the spotlight recently following the gold medal success of its players and coaches in the Team GB squad at the Paralympics.
Welford is, of course, working hard in preparation for the Marathon on October 3 alongside thousands of other runners at one of the world’s biggest mass-participation events.
The support of the #Tigersfamily will be huge in providing the motivation to conquer the 26-mile challenge and sponsorship will be a big part of the Foundation’s goals in delivery of its programme after the challenges posed by Covid and lockdown over the last 18 months.
Please support however you can to help Foundation’s work in our community.
Leicester Tigers Foundation manager Sam Swift says: “Many of the Foundation’s programmes have had to go on hold during the period of Covid but we are determined to get back out into our community with our SEND programme to deliver opportunities and support wherever we can.
“The Tigers Wheelchair Rugby Team has also become a big part of the Tigers Family and Team GB’s gold medal victory in Tokyo provided a perfect example of the sport and its athletes.
“Any sponsorship we can raise for Welford will give the Foundation the platform to create more opportunities at so many levels within our community.”
