Welford Road crowd was awesome, says Allen

Anthony Allen described the decibel levels at the new-look Welford Road as "awesome" after Tigers' 15-6 Guinness Premiership win over Newcastle Falcons.

A sold-out 24,000 crowd set a new league attendance record at Welford Road and helped Tigers celebrate the opening of the new Caterpillar Stand.

It was Allen’s home league debut for the club he joined in the summer and he was impressed by the noise from all areas of the ground.

He said: “The noise from the Cat Stand was awesome, especially when the forwards were driving on and we were waiting for the ball – you could hear it all right. Coming out in the second half when the lights were on was awesome.

“And you could hear the stamping going on in the Crumbie. That was awesome. You can hear it in the changing room as you are coming out and it gets the battle going. It’s really good.”

Tigers are next in action at Welford Road when they host Worcester Warriors in the Guinness Premiership on Saturday, October 3 (kick off 3pm).
