Fit-again Lewis Moody will team up with new signing Craig Newby in the Leicester Tigers line-up for Friday night's EDF Energy Cup match against Sale Sharks at Welford Road (7.35pm kick-off).

England international Moody is making his first appearance of the season after surgery on an Achilles and a hip, while Newby has arrived from New Zealand and will be given his debut by head coach Heyneke Meyer.

"I am really looking forward to Friday," said Meyer. "We need to show a lot of character with some of the international players away but I am confident in the guys we have got. Let's see how they go.

"Lewis Moody has been working well and he will start. He has been training hard and we have had to tell him a few times to ease off.

"Craig Newby has just arrived and he has looked good in training too. It is a new challenge for him and it is great to have a guy of his stature and international experience to come into the team.

"His arrival is excellent news for us, especially with the injuries we have in the back row and with players away."

Former Otago Highlanders captain Newby arrived in time to watch his new colleagues at Cardiff last weekend and said: “It is going to exciting to play a home game first. I have been told the Welford Road crowd is the best in the country, so hopefully they can show up and prove that again.

"I am really excited to be here. My main focus is that I want to get out there and do my job."

Moody said: "As a rugby player you just want to get out and play. I have come through all the rehab and now I just want to play. I am absolutely ready to go."

Tickets for Friday's game are on sale now from the Tigers ticket office, call 08701 28 34 30, book online or call in at Welford Road.

There's no need to miss out on the Hallowe'en spirit, you can bring it with you on Friday with supporters encouraged to wear Hallowe'en fancy dress, and face-painting and sweet giveaways organised at the game. Don't be scared!
