Harry Wells has been named as the latest Lumbers Player of the Month after a poll of Leicester Tigers supporters.

Wells, who extended his contract with the club in February, topped the voting on the Lumbers website ahead of George Ford and George Worth, with the winner announced at half-time in Saturday’s derby clash against Wasps.

His performances in the Heineken Champions Cup matches against Scarlets and Ulster, plus the return to Gallagher Premiership league action at Saracens and captaining of the side in the Premiership Rugby Cup clash at Northampton Saints, saw Wells win enough votes to scoop the award.

He joins David Denton, Jonah Holmes, Ben White and both Ford and Worth as monthly winners this season.

Supported by High Street jewellers Lumbers and voted for by Tigers supporters, the monthly award recognises the contributions of individual players to the team throughout the campaign.

Each month, fans will be asked to pick their top performer from a shortlist of three players nominated by the Tigers coaching staff. The player with the most votes on the Lumbers website will win the award, which will be presented on the Welford Road pitch during half-time of a first-team fixture.
