Following an internal disciplinary hearing held on Friday, Leicester Tigers prop Julian White has been suspended from playing for one week and fined by the club.

Club officials reviewed the incident which led to his citing following the Guinness Premiership semi-final against Gloucester.

A club statement said: “Julian White immediately accepted his guilt of the offence. He has been remorseful and is very sorry that he has let down his team-mates.

“He has been banned by the club for seven days and has consequently been withdrawn from playing this weekend.

“Also, the club have fined Julian £5,000 as this is his second disciplinary hearing of the season.”

White is due to appear before an independent disciplinary committee as a result of the citing for
an offence of alleged stamping, contrary to Law 10.4(b), after the match video was reviewed by an independent citing officer.

He will appear before a Rugby Football Disciplinary panel on Tuesday, May 27. The panel will comprise Christopher Quinlan (chairman), Mike Curling and John Doubleday.
