You cannot fault spirit says skipper

Louis Deacon says the spirit that Leicester Tigers displayed in the second half against Gloucester showed that the players can quickly recover from the first defeat of the season.

After leading Tigers to wins in each of their first three games of the season, skipper Deacon was on the losing side against Gloucester and the players know they have to bounce back against Saracens on Sunday.

"The two late tries show the courage and determination of the guys," Deacon said. "They were still willing to battle when we were behind and that is a mark of the character in the squad.

"You cannot fault the guys' efforts, but when you let in three tries it is always going to be difficult and we pride ourselves on not letting in any tries.

"When you get an interception and a penalty try you are two scores down and chasing the game. It becomes difficult and at times the ball control let us down a bit.

"But it is a pretty inexperienced squad at this stage of the season and we will all learn from the defeat, that's for sure."

Saracens made it into the Premiership play-offs last season and have started the new term well, with three wins in their opening four games.

"They are going well," Deacon said. "But we are not down, we are certainly going there to give them a game."
