Scotland U-21 prop Dave Young has joined Edinburgh Gunners on loan from Leicester Tigers for the rest of the season.
The 21-year-old joined the Tigers academy in 2004 and progressed into the successful development side before making his senior debut during last season.
After agreeing to the loan move, Young said: "I see this as a great opportunity for me. Being at Leicester where there are three current international props - Marcos Ayerza, Martin Castrogiovanni and Julian White - means it is hard as a young player to get games. This is a chance to play regular rugby and be back home, and it is a new challenge which I'm looking forward to."
Edinburgh forwards coach Iain Paxton, who also coached Scotland U-21s, said: "Dave was a regular starter for the 21s last year. He came through with a lot of performances, making a big impact and helping to stabilise the scrum."
Edinburgh Rugby executive chairman Alex Carruthers added: "Given the recent injury to Craig Smith, tighthead was a position which needed further strengthening. We're delighted to have a player of David's calibre and stature available at such short notice and we are grateful to Leicester Tigers for their assistance. As a Scotland U-21 player, this further outlines our intention to provide the opportunity for the best young Scottish talent to further their ambitions playing professional rugby for Edinburgh and, ultimately, for Scotland."
