As Ben Youngs returned to training for Leicester Tigers ahead of the back-to-back Champions Cup games against Munster Rugby, the scrum-half has been voted England's player of the series for his performances in the autumn internationals.

Youngs was on a four-player shortlist with Chris Robshaw, Jonathan Joseph and Mako Vunipola. The shortlist was selected by Sky Sports Stuart Barnes, Will Greenwood and Miles Harrison.

He received more than 6,000 votes to finish ahead of Robshaw, Joseph and Vulipola 2,014.

Youngs started all four of England’s victories over South Africa, Fiji, Argentina and Australia, scoring a superb second-half try against the Wallabies.

He also created two tries against the Springboks and made a total of four line breaks across the autumn internationals, beat nine defenders and made 81 metres from 15 carries.

His brother Tom Youngs tweeted his congratulations for younger brother Ben, saying: “Just want to congratulate @benyoungs09 for winning player of the series! He’s been on fire! Very proud brother.”
