The Tigers Academy have recorded a second straight win to make it two from two to start the 2018/19 U18 League season with a 41-point, 12-53 win over Northampton Saints Academy at Bedford.
The Cubs ran in eight tries to one on Saturday afternoon over their local rivals, with the first in the 6th minute to captain Sam Eveleigh converted by fly-half Sam Costelow followed by converted tries in a two minute period to James Whitcombe in the 33rd and Leo Gilliland in the 35th seeing them take a 12-point, 7-19 lead in to the half time break.
Saints only points in the opening half came in the 22nd minute.
It was more than 10 minutes before Tigers crossed for their first score in the second half when winger Luke Phoenix went over in the 47th minute and doubled their second half tally just two minutes later when Archie Vanes scored and Costelow converted to extend the lead to 19 points with just over 20 minutes remaining in the match.
The hosts scored their second and final try in the 50th minute, but missed the conversion attempt to close the deficit to 21 points.
Sam Costelow extended the lead by three points with a penalty goal in the 54th minute before three three in the final ten minutes to Joe Browning in 60th, fullback Freddie Steward in the 65th and Ronnie Du Rant in the final play of the game to close out the match and complete the 41 point win.
