Proceeds from Leicester Tigers ‘125 Welford Road’ Dinner in March 2018 will go to support the work of Doddie Weir, the former Scotland and Lions forward.
As well as playing for Melrose and Newcastle Falcons, Weir was capped 61 times by Scotland and toured with the 1997 British & Irish Lions to South Africa. After retirement, he has become a popular speaker, and has been a frequent host in Welford Road’s matchday corporate facilities.
In July of this year, he revealed that he was battling Motor Neuron Disease, a condition which progressively damages the nervous system. He immediately set about raising awareness of the disease and supporting fellow sufferers by setting up Doddie Weir’5 Discretionary Trust.
The ‘125 Welford Road’ dinner, supported by Total Motion, will celebrate the club’s heritage and feature chat with Tigers legends as well as a silent auction with the chance to win a number of money-cannot-buy-prizes. Places for the dinner are available at £115 per person + VAT or a table of 10, which includes sitting next to a current Tigers player is £1,500 + VAT. This includes entry to the event and a three-course meal as well as the evening’s entertainment.
