Leicester Tigers final challenge in the Allianz Cup sees the team tackle their most difficult obstacle to date, the back to back Champions, the only winners of the competition thus far, last year's Premiership finalists, Exeter Chiefs.

The match is set to take place this Saturday, October 28 (kick-off: 2pm) at Mattioli Woods Welford Road, the first time the Tigers women have returned home in the 2023/24 season.

Running out at Mattioli Woods Welford Road for the first time this season, the overriding emotion going into this week is anticipation, both for running out in front of the Tigers faithful and for testing themselves against the league's best.

"When I spoke ahead of the team's first ever competitive match at the top level, away at Sale Sharks, I mentioned how Leicester Tigers is an outcome-based organisation, one that always strives for silverware but is aware that we are very early on in our process together" said senior coach Tom Hudson, speaking ahead of this Saturday's match.

"This weekend gives us another chance to develop as a side. I believe the toughest challenges present the best opportunities for growth and allows us to see exactly where we may need to improve.

"Equally, the areas in which we succeed on Saturday will allow us to better know our strengths, as we will be doing so against one of the top sides in all of women's rugby and the current Allianz Cup holders".

Although a difficult start has beset the Tigers thus far, there have been plenty of shoots of positivity from the first three matches at the elite level of the women's game.

"I've seen tons of areas that we're excited to build on ahead of the Allianz PWR starting in a few weeks.

"The hard work the players are putting in three times a week in training, the commitment they have shown to our structure and what we're trying to build and their resilience in these tough matches have shown everyone that every member of our squad is here to fight for our place at the top table: we don't expect anything to be handed to us just because we're Leicester Tigers, we know we have to go out there and work for it".

The team haven't played at Mattioli Woods Welford Road since March 19, 2023, meaning it's been over seven months since the Tigers faithful have had the chance to cheer them on.

Having played their first home match of the season, against Warriors Women, at the club's Oval Park training ground, this final Allianz Cup fixture and all of the subsequent Allianz Premiership Women's Rugby matches, will take place at the famous stadium.

"As a coach, you'd play every game at home if you could" Hudson added.

"The lift that the crowd gives the team is immeasurable and we want to make sure we put out the best possible performance for the Tigers family.

"We've had a lot of new players come into the squad over the summer, who may not have fully experienced the Tigers fanbase yet and a couple who have run out Mattioli Woods Welford Road but for a different team, like Amelia Tutt (who last year represented Loughborough Town in Championship North 1).

"I was lucky enough to experience this atmosphere as a player and I can tell you firsthand there is no fanbase like that of Leicester Tigers. Speaking on behalf of the whole organisation, we can't wait to get out there."

Tickets are now on sale for Leicester Tigers' final round of the Allianz Cup and our first ever Allianz Premiership Women's Rugby match, both at home to Exeter Chiefs.

Help us make history in our first ever game at the elite level of women's rugby.

The Allianz Cup fixture takes place this Saturday, October 28 (kick-off: 2pm) while our first ever Allianz Premiership Women's Rugby match will take place at Mattioli Woods Welford Road in Round 1 of the league, on Sunday, November 19 (kick-off: 3pm).
