AASE team claim top-four spot

Leicester Tigers’ AASE team from Brooksby Melton College finished the season in fourth place in their league competition and will face Henley College in the play-offs next month.

After a 22-14 defeat by Oaklands College this week in the last fixture of the AASE North Group programme, Brooksby will face Henley – the AASE team of Premiership rivals Wasps –  from the South Group in the play-off stages.

Against Oaklands, in a game played in tough, windy conditions, Tigers trailed 12-0 at half-time before pulling back two tries of their own. Oaklands, though, proved the stronger and secured second place with their win.

BMC will now face Henley College on Tuesday, December 5, venue to be confirmed.

This is the first competitive season for the team from Brooksby Melton College as Tigers continues to work closely with the college to develop its young talent.

BMC hosts an open day this Saturday (November 25) for potential higher education students looking to study a degree in sports science. The event runs from 9:45am to noon and will include a tour of the campus as well as practical rugby taster sessions delivered by Tigers coaches.

The first 20 places registered will get two free tickets to Saturday’s Tigers match against Worcester Warriors at Welford Road (3.00pm).
