Academy face Japan High Schools

Manager Neil McCarthy says he is expecting the unexpected when Leicester Tigers Academy take on Japan High Schools.

The Tigers youngsters play the tourists at Plymouth Albion’s Brickfields Recreation Ground on Wednesday (kick-off 7pm).

Academy McCarthy says it will be a good experience for his players to face a new style of rugby.

“Japan High Schools will be an interesting game,” said McCarthy. “It’s an international fixture and an important one

“We don’t know much about them. It will be a completely new experience for all of us. I have never played against a Japan side and I don’t think any of our Academy players have.

“It will be a good rugby experience because they will offer something that we have not come across before.

“It’s reasonably straight forward to prepare to play against England, Scotland or Wales because we know roughly what to expect, but there is an element of the unexpected against Japan High Schools.”
