Academy ready to engage USA

Leicester Tigers Academy take on USA Under-20s on Saturday with manager Neil McCarthy describing it as an ideal chance to integrate his new players.

The game at Welford Road kicks off at 1pm in what will be the Academy’s first home game of the season – and entry is free.

McCarthy said: “The team to play USA will be a mixture with some of our senior Academy players right through to some 16-year-olds.

“We have had a really good summer. We have integrated our new intake into the Academy programme and this game will help that process.

“It is a fantastic opportunity and experience for the lads to be playing at Welford Road. Some have played there a few times while for others it will be a first experience of playing in an environment like Welford Road.

“Hopefully the Tigers supporters who aren’t going to Munster for Friday night’s game will come down and support the Academy.

“It’s important we get behind the Academy and the next generation of first-team players. It will be a good opportunity to see them at the start of their journey.”

Entry to the game is free and supporters will be seated in the Caterpillar Stand.
