Alix Wood will complete her epic trek from Cornwall to Leicester on Saturday when she arrives at Welford Road in time for kick off against Newcastle Falcons.

Alix is encouraging supporters to join her on the final leg of her 230-mile walk from the Bakers Arms in Blaby to Welford Road when she sets off at 2.30pm.

She said: “It will be great if people want to join me and walk the last few miles. And if people want to meet up afterwards we will be in the ABC Bar.”

Alix, supported by her husband Kevin, set off from Launceston Rugby Club on Sunday, September 6 to raise money for the Matt Hampson Trust. They were welcomed at the Recreation Ground last weekend by supporters of Bath Rugby and London Wasps.

Now they are set to be welcomed by a record league crowd at Welford Road, and Alix said: “We have raised so much. I want to thank everybody for their generous donations, it has made it all worthwhile.”
