Two giants of New Zealand rugby are coming to Welford Road in November for a special evening in association with the Matt Hampson Foundation.

Former All Blacks captain Wayne ‘Buck’ Shelford and legendary lock forward Sir Colin Meads, considered among the world’s greatest-ever players, are the guests for this special evening at the home of the Leicester Tigers on Wednesday, November 6, and organised by Tight 5 Events.

Shelford made his Test debut for the All Blacks in 1986, was a member of the squad that lifted the Rugby World Cup a year later and took over as captain following the tournament and staying unbeaten in that role for three years.

Later, he played for Northampton Saints and coached in Italy and England before returning to New Zealand.

Iconic forward Colin ‘Pinetree’ Meads played 55 Tests for the All Blacks (1957-1971), was described as ‘the most famous forward in world rugby during the 1960s’ by the IRB Hall of Fame and in 1999 he was named the country's Player of the Century at the NZRFU Awards.

They will be joining forces for a special evening at Welford Road and places are available to book now. The evening features a three-course dinner and question-and-answer sessions with the rugby legends. Price is £450 for a table of 10. Email [email protected] or phone 0845 423 8945 for bookings.
