Born in the East Midlands, Egan graduated from Loughborough University with a Bachelor of Science, Sports and Exercise degree, during which he undertook a placement with Tigers as Performance Analyst Intern during 2010/11.

In 2012, he joined England Rugby as a Performance Analyst with the senior men’s programme before moving to Bath Rugby in 2016.

Leicester Tigers Head Coach Steve Borthwick said: “Matt is an experienced analyst who has worked in the Premiership and international rugby with England and is passionate about being a part of what we are building at the club.

“We are excited to welcome him back to Leicester Tigers to lead our analysis team and for what he will bring to our club in this role.”

Egan added: “This is an exciting opportunity to not only progress in my career but join Leicester Tigers at a time when you can see the club is rebuilding under Steve Borthwick.

“I had the chance to work with Steve with England in 2016 and enjoyed the experience.

“Steve is someone who is always looking ahead, always looking at ways to get ahead of the game, and I am excited about being a part of that and working with him and his coaches as part of this new analysis team at Tigers.”

Egan commences his role this week, leading a new-look analysis department of Luc Thomas (Performance Analyst), new Academy Analyst Andrew McBay and George Hyde, who joins the club for the season on placement from Loughborough University.
