Everards Tiger Best Bitter, the Official Beer of Leicester Tigers, scooped the Gold Medal at the British Bottlers' Institute Competition for Ales, Lager and Cider.

It is the second award for Tiger Best Bitter this year after it landed gold at the Brewing Industry International Awards

The British Bottlers' Institute Competition for Ales, Lager and Cider has been running for more than 50 years and is open to all UK and foreign producers, bottlers and canners of ales, lagers and ciders.

An independent panel of experts carry out a blind taste test before giving a Gold and Silver medal award to the outstanding beers in each class. The Diploma of Excellence is given to any other meritorious beer in each of the various classes and was awarded to Everards Beacon Bitter.

Everards Brewery chairman Richard Everard said: “It is a huge achievement to win such awards and reflects the dedication and hard work of the Everards team who are committed to ensuring we offer the highest quality ales.”

To mark the success, Everards have reduced the price of bottled beers in their brewery and website shops until Friday. Customers will also receive a free t-shirt with every two cases of ale purchased.
