Another record in EDF Energy Cup

Leicester Tigers set an EDF Energy Cup record attendance for the second time this season when a crowd of 17,172 saw the win over Sale Sharks at Welford Road on Friday evening.

The club's previous home game in the competition, against Cardiff Blues, attracted an attendance of 17,118 to set a record for the pool stages of the tournament. Tigers had also held the previous best at 16,057 set against Newport Gwent Dragons last season.

Friday's victory ensured a place in the semi-finals of the competition Tigers won last season with final victory over The Ospreys.

The semi-final draw produced a repeat of last season's Heineken Cup Final, with Tigers facing London Wasps at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on Saturday, March 22.

Tigers are anticipating another bumper attendance this weekend when Toulouse at the visitors in the Heineken Cup. A limited number of tickets remain on sale for that game, at Welford Road on Saturday (3.30pm).

Tickets for all Tigers home games in the Guinness Premiership and Heineken Cup, as well as the international between England Saxons and Ireland A on February 1, are on sale now from the Tigers ticket office. Call the ticket hotline on 08701 28 34 30, book online at http://www.leicestertigers.com/ or call in at Welford Road.
