Leicester Tigers return to Jersey for a Rugby Camp next week, in association with Ashburton Investments who are marking their 10th anniversary of supporting the initiative.

Tigers Rugby Camps include tag rugby and contact camps, and are open to all young players aged six to 13 who would like to improve their skills with the help of professional coaches.

Former England international centre Anthony Allen, a Premiership title winner with Tigers who is now a coach with the club’s academy players, will join the group in Jersey next week (from Monday, July 18) to pass on the knowledge gained from a decade as a professional at the highest level.

Tigers Rugby Camps offer top-quality coaching from the Leicester Tigers rugby development team, providing a unique opportunity to sharpen individual and team skills, and make new friends.

The coaching team in Jersey will be led by former Tigers player Lewis Clifford who is also a junior academy coach and professional academy education and welfare officer. He will be supported by full-time Tigers staff and development officers.

This popular activity week has become a favourite for youngsters in Jersey who are keen to learn from the most successful rugby club in the country. For a decade, Ashburton Investments have sponsored the Tigers camps in the Channel Islands, playing a significant role in developing young rugby talent.

Ed Slater, Tigers club captain, said: “These camps offer valuable and fun experiences for hundreds of budding rugby players around the UK regions, including in Jersey.

“With players and former players visiting the camps and offering insight into the game, it brings out the best in the young players and we see them working hard together.

“Each year it proves to be a fun and exciting experience.”
