Tighthead prop Fraser Balmain is the latest Leicester Tigers player to agree a new contract with the club.Newcastle-born Balmain, 23, progressed to the first-team squad from the Tigers academy and made his debut in the LV= Cup during 2010/11.
With injuries to international props Dan Cole and Logovi’i Mulipola earlier this season, Balmain gained valuable senior experience and has started 10 games already in this campaign as well as making a further five appearances as a replacement and is approaching 50 games for the club.
Tigers director of rugby Richard Cockerill said: “Fraser has been doing a good job for us, especially this season when we have been without some of our more senior players in the forward pack.
“He is improving all the time and, as a prop, he still has time on his side to continue that improvement.
“There is a very strong pool of front-rowers at the club, and I’m happy that Fraser wants to continue to be a part of that.”
