Welford Road hosted the qualifiers of the Prima Tiger Shield and Bowl on Saturday with 16 teams sharing matchday with the Leicester Tigers.The Prima Tiger Cup, sponsored by Prima Solutions of Loughborough, is a free-to-enter contact-based tournament for under-10s teams scheduled to run over five festivals covering the Tigers Academy region and beyond, with the opportunity to play at Welford Road in the later stages.
Teams from across the region and beyond joined Tigers for the qualifiers of the Prima Tiger Bowl and Shield on Saturday and stayed to watch the big match, with Tigers beating Sale Sharks 28-8 in the Aviva Premiership.
Teams from Bridgnorth, Buckingham, Huntingdon, Peterborough, Sandbach, Shipston-on-Stour, Silhillians and North Walsham played in the Bowl qualifiers.
Braintree, Broadstreet, Hinckley, Melbourne, Market Rasen, Newmarket, Rotherham and Shelford took part in the Shield.
Hinckley and Leicester Forest have qualified for the Shield Final, while Buckingham and Silhillians will meet in the Bowl Final to be played ahead of the Tigers’ Aviva Premiership match against Exeter Chiefs on March 28. Teams will also compete in the Prima Tiger Cup qualifiers and Final ahead of kick-off.
