Big screen installation hit by weather conditions

Figure image
Installation of a big screen at Leicester Tigers has been affected by extreme weather conditions and it will not be fully operational for Sunday's home game against Gloucester.

Contractors have been working throughout the last few weeks on the GE-sponsored screen, which measures nine metres by five metres, but have been delayed by safety concerns in extreme weather.

Seating at the Clubhouse End was removed to allow engineers full access to that area of the stadium but successive days of heavy rain and extremely high winds have hampered their work, including framework welding, electrical installation and manoeuvring heavy screen modules accurately into place.

The framework is now complete, the part of screen in place will operate as the scoreboard for this Sunday’s match against Gloucester and the Clubhouse Stand seats have been re-installed in time to accommodate another 20,000-plus crowd. Work on the screen will be completed in time for the match against Exeter Chiefs on March 23.
