Brooksby Melton College, which works closely with the Leicester Tigers Community team in providing a bespoke rugby and edcuation programme, has been placed top in the East Midlands and third nationally in a survey of student achievement.
Following a review of specialist Land-based providers, BMC ranked top in the region for achievement among 16-18 year-olds across all levels and third nationally for Level 3 provision.
In a government review of General FE Colleges, BMC has also been identified as the highest-performing college in the region for 16-18 year olds on Level 3 qualifications, which are equivalent to ‘A’ Levels. With a 94.7 per cent achievement rate, BMC stood a full 10 per cent above the national rates.
Scott Clarke, head of community at Tigers, said: “BMC work closely with us on a rugby and education academy-style programme as well as supporting the education and qualification needs of the Tigers Foundation and its award-winning Hitz and Dynamite programmes.
“We are delighted to see that the investment, hard work and dedication of staff and pupils has paid off and we congratulate them for this outstanding recognition.”
The college is based across two campuses and offers qualifications from Entry Level to Degree Level.
The Creative and Service Industries Campus in Melton Mowbray provides qualifications in performing arts, film and TV production, catering and hospitality, hair and beauty, life and living skills, early years, health and care professions and teacher training.
The Brooksby Campus offers qualifications in agriculture, animal care, equine studies, construction, countryside management, horticulture, floristry, land-based service engineering, motor vehicle engineering, sport and foundation studies.
Chris Ball, Principal at MBC, said: “We work very hard to ensure that our students are provided with first-class teaching, excellent support and outstanding facilities, giving them everything they need to achieve their full potential.
“We are immensely proud of how dedicated and hard-working our students are and they really do deserve to be studying in the best learning environment.
“Our study programmes have a strong employability focus, which means that students are fully equipped to enter their chosen industry and develop a fulfilling career for themselves. We have some fantastic links with industry which further enhances the student experience.”
BMC has recently invested £27.7 million in facilities across its campuses, including a new multi-purpose sports hall and all-weather pitch at Brooksby.
