Leicester Tigers captain Tom Youngs will officially start the Run For All 10K in September.

The Asda Foundation Leicester 10K takes place on Sunday, September 9, the day after Tigers host Newcastle Falcons in the opening home game of the Gallagher Premiership season at Welford Road.

A team of Tigers fans and staff members will join hundreds of runners on the streets of the city and will be raising funds for the Tigers Foundation. It will help fund and expand the Foundation's delivery to people young and old living life with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

England and British & Irish Lions international Youngs will get the race going at its Abbey park starting line.

Youngs said: "“Last year, the event raised lots of money for the Tigers Foundation, which helps support programmes across the community.

"While I’ll likely be recovering from the match the day before, I wanted to come along and support our great volunteers by cheering them on. To open the event is a huge honour and good luck to everyone who will be taking part.”

The route will take runners across the Grand Union Canal and into the city centre, past the Richard III visitor centre and the cathedral. Runners will then twice cross the River Soar before ending with a final lap of the park.

The team are hoping to raise more than £12,000 towards the Tigers Foundation, so if you're keen to get involved or volunteer to help out on the day, contact Jess Hider at [email protected] or on 0116 2171343.
