Leicester Tigers are celebrating the Rugby 4 All campaign during Sunday's match at Welford Road. While Tigers lock horns with Exeter Chiefs in the LV= Cup semi-final, the club will be showcasing their work with women, girls and Leicester’s multicultural communities.
Before Sunday’s big game, Tigers will welcome a group of youngsters from Mellor Primary School who will be playing tag rugby on the Welford Road pitch, celebrating their introduction to the game. Pupils will join girls’ groups from John Fernley and Robert Smyth Academy, plus young players who took part in our first all-girls Tigers Rugby Camps in February this year and players from the city’s university women’s teams.
The Tigers’ Rugby 4 All initiative has been supported by Premiership Rugby and backed by the Equalities and Human Rights Commission to work hard in promoting diversity and equality in rugby.
Scott Clarke, head of community and trustee of the new Leicester Tigers Foundation, said: “The Leicester Tigers Foundation is committed to making sure that all the groups we work with are inspired by our programmes to seek a better and more positive future, doing more and expecting more from their participation in sport.”
