At the start of next season, Leicester-based charity Hope Against Cancer are taking on a Clogs and Cleats Cycle Challenge in aid of research into cancer.

A team of up to 55 riders will be take on the 410-mile ride from Leicester to Amsterdam and back over five days.

Along the way they will be joined by Hope patron Martin Johnson, as well as former Tigers colleagues Ollie Smith, Tim Stimpson and Derek Jelley.

Riding as part of the team will be Jayne Head and Fliss Wallace, cycling in memory of former club solicitor Neil Head who died on New Year’s Day. Neil was joint managing partner of Leicester law firm Josiah Hincks and a long-time friend and colleague of the Tigers.

Club chairman Peter Tom said at the time of his passing "Neil was a good friend of so many people at Leicester Tigers among the board of directors, management team, staff, players and supporters."

Neil's wife Jayne and niece Fliss  are fundraising throughout the summer and cycling the 410 miles in his memory to help fund a ‘Neil Head Fellowship’ administered by Hope Against Cancer.  They will be joined by Barbara North and Corinne Green from the charity. The aim of the fellowship is to fund a research project in the University Hospitals of Leicester.

Fundraising kicks off next Saturday with a GI Jayne: A Night for Neil event featuring a Glen Miller style band at Stoughton Farm Park. Tickets are £15 and available from Hope Against Cancer by phoning 0116 270 0101.
