Chesney to set record against Tigers

Figure image
Kris Chesney will set a Premiership appearance record when he runs out for Saracens at Welford Road on Saturday.

The 34-year-old back row forward will make his 194th league appearance to edge of Simon Shaw and Neal Hatley who are both on 193.

"It's a great honour," said Chesney who also broke the 300-appearance mark for the club this season.

"Running out at Welford Road will be a proud moment and hopefully, come the final whistle, it would have been a game that both the team and I will have enjoyed."

Andy Farrell (rib) and Francisco Leonelli (hamstring) return from injury to make the starting line-up while Dan Scarbrough reverts to full-back and Richard Haughton switches to the wing. Richard Hill also returns in the only change to the forward pack following last week's victory over Sale Sharks.

"We were pleased to get the win last weekend but we're still not playing at the level we need to be," said director of rugby Alan Gaffney.

"We've started to show more adventure and confidence in our play and are returning to the style that has served us so well in the previous 18 months.

"We've got a tough game this weekend against a quality side that, even without players on international duty or through injury, can still select a side packed with internationals.

"It's a big game for both sides especially with the Premiership table getting more congested by the week."
