Cockerill content with win over battling Viadana

Richard Cockerill says Leicester Tigers were rewarded for their "patience and persistence" in a seven-try win over Viadana in Italy on Saturday.

Scott Hamilton claimed a hat-trick of tries as Tigers beast their hosts 46-11 in Pool 3.

“Seven tries is probably fair reward for us in the end,” said Cockerill.

“Viadana have got some good players, they have a good set-piece and a good kicking game, and they made it hard for us. Give them huge credit for that. It was a tough, physical battle.

“We were probably not as accurate as we should have been and we were a little disjointed when we had to make changes in the second half, but we showed decent patience.

“At half-time we just said we didn’t have to chase the game too hard, that is when you can make mistakes.

“We have got to be content with seven tries and 46 points here. We have scored 11 tries in the last two weeks and that is a good return.”

Tigers return to action on Saturday with a trip to London Irish in the Guinness Premiership before the next home game, against Northampton Saints on Saturday, October 31 (5.35pm). Book your places now by phoning the Tigers ticket office on 0844 856 1880, book online or call in at Welford Road.
