Cockers looks ahead to Premiership challenge

Richard Cockerill says every game in the Aviva Premiership next season will present its own challenge.

Leicester Tigers, the nine-time champions of England, kick off the new campaign with a home game against Exeter Chiefs on Saturday, September 3 (3pm).

The clash is followed by a trips to London Wasps, who yesterday announced Dai Young as their new director of rugby, and Newcastle Falcons and a home game against defending champions Saracens in the opening month of the season.

During that period Tigers will be without some of their international contingent, who will be away on World Cup duty.

And director of rugby Cockerill says his squad will “crack on” with the challenge in front of them

“All the games are challenging and any side is capable of beating anybody,” he said. “Exeter did very well last year. They are difficult side to play against. We are at home for the first game, which is a good thing as long as we win it.

“Exeter might lose the odd player but will be pretty much at full strength. We may have guys missing but that’s nothing new to us but we just prepare and crack on.”
