Cole starts in Lions front row

Front-rower Dan Cole is the only Leicester Tigers player in the British & Irish Lions line-up for Tuesday's match against the Combined Country at Hunter Stadium in Newcastle.

Tigers prop Cole makes his third appearance of the tour and second start, with head coach Warren Gatland bringing in England’s Alex Corbisiero at loosehead following his arrival as an injury replacement for Cian Healy. Scotland’s Ryan Grant is also in line for his first Lions appearance after joining the squad on Saturday following injury to Gethin Jenkins.

Gatland said: “This team includes three players - Richie Gray, Alex Cuthbert and Stuart Hogg - who are starting their second game in a row plus another George North who came off the bench early against the Reds. This is the nature of Lions tours as we adapt to injuries and playing twice a week.”
