Community coaches teaching Italians the Tigers way

It’s not just the Tigers players being put through their paces this summer, as youngsters in Italy have been taking part in a series of rugby camps in the mountains of Val Gardena in northern Italy.

Hosted in the commune of Sëlva, the next generation of Italian rugby players have been able to experience what it takes to make it as a Leicester Tiger.

The club already has strong links with global partner club Rugby Colorno, who were promoted to the top tier of Italian rugby following a successful 2019/20 campaign.

A team of Tigers community coaches have travelled to help coach under-10 to under-16 boys and girls groups leading three camps each lasting five days.

From perfecting the basics of the game, to focusing on more specific skills, each group takes part in full day sessions with time for fun activities and time in the swimming pool for recovery.

Including sessions focusing on 'Tempo breakdown breakouts', 'Attack the space' and 'Getting the ball back', the camp gives youngsters from the area to opportunity to learn from Tigers qualified coaches and discover more about the club.

Tigers rugby camps take place in the UK and around the world throughout the year. Find a rugby camp near you using our simple rugby camp finder at the link below.

Keep an eye out across Tigers social media channels this week for more videos from the team in Italy.
