Cornwell returns for Tigers Development XV

Matt Cornwell returns from injury this evening as Tigers Development XV travel to Newcastle for their final match of the 2007/08 Guinness A league season.

Cornwell has recovered from a back injury to take his place at outside centre, with the former England U-21 captain clearly happy to be back involved.

“I returned to full training for the first time last week and I was always hoping to be in the mix for tonight’s game,” said Cornwell. “I’m looking forward to it and, hopefully, I can put in a good performance and help the team come away with a win.”

Tigers will be looking to build on last week’s impressive 61-3 hammering of Sale Jets as they aim to secure their fifth win of the campaign.

Ben Herring continues as captain, with fellow first teamers Alex Moreno, Mefin Davies, Dave Young and Ben Pienaar also selected in a strong pack.

Ian Humphreys and Ben Youngs form an exciting half-back partnership, while a number of the academy’s most promising youngsters have another chance to gain valuable experience at senior level.
