Corry excited by Heineken Cup rivalry

Captain Martin Corry says Leicester Tigers' Heineken Cup opener against the Ospreys promises to be a great Welford Road occasion.

Corry described the fixture as “one to get excited for” as he prepares to lead out twice European champions Tigers in Sunday’s Pool 3 fixture.

Former England skipper Corry said: “It is the Heineken Cup and this is certainly one to get excited for. We will be there, the fans will be there and, hopefully, it will be a great occasion.”

Tigers and Ospreys have started the season in similar form after winning all but one of the league games in the opening phase and beginning their EDF Energy Cup campaigns with victory last weekend. And the sides have met each other twice previously in the Heineken Cup as well as in the last two EDF Energy Cup Finals at Twickenham.

Corry, who is set to make his 64th appearance in the Heineken Cup, more than any other player in Tigers history, said the sides are developing a rivalry.

“We have played each other four times in four years,” he said. “We have had a fair rivalry, a good rivalry.

Corry added: “We are focusing on ourselves and on making sure we play our best game on Sunday.”
