Martin Corry made the final appearance of his playing career in a Barbarians shirt in Sydney on Saturday.

Back in the country where he collected a Rugby World Cup winner’s medal in 2003, the Leicester Tigers captain came off the bench to play the final 20 minutes of the Baabaas tour match, but ended on the losing side as Australia triumphed 55-7.

Corry, who announced that he will retire at the end of the current season, captained the Baabaas to victory over England at Twickenham last Saturday.

Club colleague Geordan Murphy started the game at full-back for the Barbarians, playing the opening 45 minutes before being replaced by Ben Blair of the Cardiff Blues.

The hosts ran in eight tries in front of a 38,688-strong crowd at Sydney Football Stadium.
