Corry returns to captain Tigers

Martin Corry returns to lead Leicester Tigers in their EDF Energy Cup match against Sale Sharks at Welford Road on Friday evening (kick-off 7.40pm).

Corry is joined by fellow World Cup finalists Dan Hipkiss, Ben Kay and Lewis Moody in a team boasting 11 senior internationals as Tigers look for the win which would guarantee a place in the semi-finals of a competition they won at Twickenham last season.

The Tigers captain is joined in the back row by Moody and Jordan Crane, with Kay and Louis Deacon reunited at lock, and Benjamin Kayser flanked by Marcos Ayerza and Julian White in the front row.

Frank Murphy and Andy Goode continue at half-back, with Hipkiss and Ollie Smith at centre. Geordan Murphy, Johne Murphy and Tom Varndell complete the backline.
George Chuter is named among the replacements after his return to action in last week’s win over Leeds Carnegie.

“We are expecting a hard game,” said head coach Marcelo Loffreda. “I know many of the Sale players and I know they will come here to win. We have to work hard, maintain our momentum and we have to improve with each game. This game is a very good challenge for the team.”

Tickets are available now for the return of Friday night rugby to Welford Road. Contact the Tigers ticket office on 08701 28 34 30.
