Covers are already on the Welford Road pitch as Leicester Tigers prepare to combat winter weather ahead of Saturday's Aviva Premiership match against Newcastle Falcons.
Charles Rayner, head of stadium operations, said: "The frost covers went down on Tuesday on the side of the pitch that remains in the shadow of the Holland and Barrett Stand. These will keep the frost out of the pitch and the covers will not be removed until shortly before kick-off.

If the weather forecast dramatically changes, the larger cover system and hot-air blowers are on standby. Teams of volunteers are available to grit the public areas of the stadium if necessary and the City Council Highways will work on the surrounding roads and footpaths.
