Leicester Tigers back-rower Jordan Crane has won Gatorade's Performance of the Month Award for November, with his individual performance in the match at Gloucester.

The England international No8’s efforts were highlighted by Opta statistics as being the stand-out individual performance of the Guinness Premiership in November.

Opta’s unique formula, created for the award, takes into account attributes essential to a successful performance. Total number of carries, metres gained, tackles made, defenders beaten and tries scored are all acknowledged.

During the 80 minutes at Kingsholm, Crane made 13 carries, totalling 59 metres, together with 14 tackles and a turnover, which were enough to see off strong individual performances from London Irish’s Steffon Armitage and Harlequins’ Nick Easter.

On receiving the award, Crane said: “I’m really pleased to have won the Gatorade Performance of the Month Award for last month. The Guinness Premiership is full of very talented players so it is good to be recognised for individual performances by Gatorade.

“Rugby is a team sport, and it’s important that players play to their best to benefit the team and result on the pitch.”

Gatorade’s Performance of the Month Award will be running for the 2009/10 Guinness Premiership season, with the leading individual performance at the end of season collecting the Gatorade Performance of the Year Award at the Guinness Premiership Awards.
