Denton confident of Scottish improvement

Leicester Tigers back-rower David Denton has been named in Scotland's squad for their upcoming Autumn internationals, kicking off against Wales on November 3 for the Doddie Weir Cup.

Denton, who was the first Lumbers Player of the Month of the season after a stellar start to his Tigers career since joining from Worcester over the summer, says the he's confident the Scots will continue to improve after an impressive 2017/18.

"It's always an honour to be included and I'm excited for the challenge of this upcoming Autumn series," said Denton.

"We had a strong Six Nations campaign and summer tour, which we're hopeful of continuing to improve on and get better as a team."

Personally, the Tigers back-rower is also hopeful of showing his own value to head coach Gregor Townsend as next year's Rugby World Cup in Japan fast approaches.

"With a world cup so close, there is obviously an added challenge of continuing to prove myself to be a part of that in 2019," he said.

Denton missed last weekend's Heineken Champions Cup opener away to Ulster after suffering a head knock in the Gallagher Premiership win over Northampton at Twickenham.
