A team of Leicester Tigers players including Ed Slater, Julian Salvi and Logovi'i Mulipola is taking part in the Sport Bash in Stamford next weekend.

The event has been organised in support of the Matt Hampson Foundation, with a cricket match between a Tigers XI and Northampton Saints XI alongside family activities, music and other entertainment.

Scott Hamilton, Jamie Gibson, Matt Smith and summer signing Freddie Burns are also listed in the Tigers cricket squad, alongside former players Craig Newby, Freddie Tuilagi, Tim Stimpson and Andy Goode.

Matt Hampson has pledged to give the money raised at day two of the Sport Bash event to the family of Seb Goold, the young Stamford rugby player who was seriously injured in a road accident earlier this year.

Matt said: “Stamford Rugby Club has been fantastic for me with support over the years. I wanted to give something back and there was no better cause than Seb and his family. It was a freak accident similar to my own and I just wanted to help them out.”

The Sport Bash event is at being held at Stamford School on Friday and Saturday, July 25 and 26, with the cricket scheduled for a 3pm start on the Saturday.
