Dig out your Tigers memorabilia

Figure image
We are holding a Tigers Treasure Day from 11am on Tuesday, May 17, when you are invited to bring along any club memorabilia and let us catalogue and photograph it.

The club is planning to honour some of its most famous players by putting together displays of memorabilia they have collected over their illustrious careers.

But with a history spanning more than 130 years and many hundreds of players having donned the Tigers shirt, there must be much more memorabilia in the hands of the past players, their children or grandchildren.

So, did you play for the Tigers in years past, or did you have a relative who was a member of the team? Do you have any unusual or interesting memorabilia? Might you be prepared to loan it, or even donate it, to the club?

We are holding a Tigers Treasure Day at Welford Road on May 17 when you can bring aliong your memorabilia and allow us to catalogue and photograph it. We will be joined by club historian Stuart Farmer and members of the memorabilia committee.

We are currently cataloguing all the items that have come into the club’s possession over the years, from shirts to medals, letters of selection, membership books, photographs and so on.

The club is also looking for a storage area where we can keep historic items safely and access them easily. Do you have an appropriate lockable, clean, dry area within easy reach of either Welford Road or Oval Park that we could use for this purpose? If you are able to help, please phone Jan Sanders on 0116 217 1300 or email [email protected]
