DMU Takeover Day a hit with fans

Leicester Tigers supporters enjoyed live entertainment and half-time fun courtesy of club partner De Montfort University as part of their ‘DMU Takeover Day’ at Welford Road on Saturday.

Supporters grabbed free T-shirts and took part DMU’s selfie competition at their stall on the plaza outside the Holland & Barrett Stand.

De Montfort University’s Gospel Choir and the university’s Cheerleading Society also entertained fans pre-match as part of the build-up to next week’s annual Varsity fixture against the University of Leicester at Welford Road (Wednesday, March 6).

At half-time teams representing Oadby Wyggestonians RFC Under-15s and East Bergholt School from Suffolk took part in the De Monfort University Ultimate Big Boot challenge, attempting to catch as many balls as possible fired from the Big Boot and contest a place on the season’s leaderboard.

Tigers club mascot Welford also visited the university last week as part of their ticket giveaway for the fixture against Wasps, as students across campus posed for a ‘welfie’.

Tickets for this year’s Varsity fixture can be purchased via each university’s Student Union or from the Tigers ticket office on Wednesday evening.
