Scottish Rugby legend Doddie Weir's emotional return to Murrayfield prior to the 2017 Autumn international fixture against the World Champion New Zealand has been voted the Laureus Sporting Moment of the Month for April 2018, as voted by fans world-wide.

Weir delivered the match ball on to the historic pitch alongside his three son's before Scotland took the All Blacks, which also doubled as the international debut for Leicester Tigers back-rower Luke Hamilton.

The rugby world has united behind Weir as he battles Motor Neurone Disease, which the former Newcastle Falcons lock has campaigned worldwide to raise awareness and much-needed funding for in search for a cure as the face of his own My Name5 Doddie Foundation.

The Foundation received more than £30,000 from the Leicester Tigers in March of this year after the Welford Road 125 Dinner, which saw the return of more than 50 club legends to celebrate the anniversary season at the historic rugby venue, was hosted in support of his tireless work.
