George Chuter and Thomas Waldrom have been released from England's World Cup training squad.

The Leicester Tigers forwards were among five players released today by team manager Martin Johnson. They were joined by Joe Worsley (London Wasps), David Strettle (Saracens) and James Simpson-Daniel (Gloucester Rugby).

Chuter and Waldrom now link up with Tigers for pre-season training ahead of the new campaign, which kicks off with the visit of Exeter Chiefs to Welford Road on Saturday, September 3 (3pm kick-off).

Their Tigers teammates Dan Cole, Tom Croft, Louis Deacon, Toby Flood, Manu Tuilagi and Ben Youngs remain with the England squad and will prepare for the first warm-up game against Wales at Twickenham on Saturday.
