Eastmond can't wait for Welford Road bow

Kyle Eastmond says he cannot wait to run out in front of the Welford Road crowd as a Tigers player after completing his move to Leicester.

A dual code international, Eastmond has agreed a move to Tigers after spells in Premiership Rugby at Bath Rugby and Wasps.

And the 29-year-old said: “When you play at Welford Road as an away team, it's a tough place to go and an incredible, loud atmosphere. It will be nice to do that wearing the home kit now.

“It's great to join a massive club like Leicester with a strong tradition. I'm very happy to be a Tiger.

“I am going to give 100 per cent every single day and prepare to play my best rugby. Hopefully I will do that and play well in this team.”

“I just want to work hard, settle in as quickly as I can and hopefully play my best rugby.

Eastmond will link up with former Bath team-mate George Ford as well as fellow internationals Matt Toomua, Manu Tuilagi, Telusa Veainu, Jonny May and Ben Youngs.

And he said the chance to play alongside Ford and the internationals in the Tigers squad helped inform his decision to join the club.

“It was definitely part of it,” said Eastmond. “I've worked with Fordy, a few of the guys at England and some others at club level as well.

“It's important at this stage of your career to be playing somewhere that fits and Leicester does that for me.”

“I just think it fits, which is important. I'm experienced enough now to know I want to play the best rugby I can and now it's about being at a place that fits.

“I think the squad here, the players and the coaching staff as well offer that here so hopefully I can achieve what I want.”

He added: “I just want to work hard, settle in as quickly as I can and hopefully play my best rugby.”
