An emotional Marcos Ayerza led the traditional lap by the Leicester Tigers players at the end of the final home game of the season on Saturday.

Loosehead prop Ayerza joined Tigers from amateur club rugby in Argentina in 2006 and made the last of his 246 appearances for the club this season before announcing his retirement this month.

A four-time Premiership winner with the club, he is a past winner of the Outstanding Service award and Player of the Year. Capped 66 times by the Pumas, he played in three World Cup tournaments.

Ayerza led the players on their post-match lap to thank supporters following a 41-18 victory over Sale Sharks in Round 21 of the Aviva Premiership season which kept Tigers in fourth place in the table and chasing a semi-final spot. The league programme ends with a trip to Worcester Warriors next Saturday.

See Saturday's matchday programme for a collection of fan tributes to Marcos and his Tigers career. Copies of the programme are still available to buy at the Tigers ticket  office, price £3.
